2.5 million in renovations and additions planned for the former E.R. Carter Elementary School space.
Families First of Georgia, a non-profit family service agency, will move its headquarters to the space that formerly housed E.R. Carter Elementary School at 80 Joseph E Lowery Boulevard Northwest in the Washington Park neighborhood.
“The number one reason for choosing this space is it’s a mile away from where Families First started in 1890 as Leonard Street Orphans’ Home,” Kimberly Krautter, a representative for the project, told What Now Atlanta (WNA) in a telephone conversation Thursday.
“The location puts us back in the community where it all began, but it’s also large enough for our growing needs.”
Renovations on the existing space and construction of additional wings will cost an estimated $2,500,000, according to plans filed with the City of Atlanta Tuesday.
Families First will continue to operate its seven office locations across metro Atlanta. The new headquarters should be fully operational in Fall 2016.
What happens to Westside Works (Current tenant @ E.R. Carter)
An employee at Westside Works said in a telephone conversation that they would be moving locations when Families First moves in. They declined to say where Westside Works will relocate, but we’ll stay on it and update with that information as it becomes available!
