A nationally recognized child care franchise is in the works in Hall County.

Kiddie Academy will celebrate the groundbreaking of the new location at 5331 Thompson Mill Road on May 17, 2024.

The 10,000-square-foot location is owned and operated by retired U.S. Army Special Forces officer Greg Washington and his mother Orian Motley, also a retired Army officer. The two have owned and operated Kiddie Academy of Dacula since 2017.

“Our family strongly believes in education, particularly the importance of providing a firm foundation through high-quality early education,” Washington said. “Our mission is to create a community of families and educators who work seamlessly together for the benefit of our children.”

The new facility will include nine classrooms equipped with cameras, a state-of-the-art playground and robust security throughout. The facility is expected to open in early 2025 and will be licensed to serve 161 children. It is expected to bring approximately 30 jobs to the community.

Kiddie Academy began in 1981. The academies offer full- and part-time care, before- and after-school care, and summer camp programs for children ages 6 weeks to 12 years old.

There are currently more than 325 locations of Kiddie Academy across 36 states and the District of Columbia, serving more than 38,000 children.
