Construction on Fuqua’s Madison Yards development is moving right along.
The commercial real estate developer this week filed plans with the City of Atlanta to begin laying the foundation for an AMC Theatre, one of two anchors for the mixed-use project.
AMC Theatre will be situated in building 800 of Madison Yards, a “multistory mercantile building” that will be “one of the buildings housing the 130,000 square feet of retail space proposed at the site.”
Building 800 is located at the center of the site along Holtzclaw Street.
Similar permits in late-2017 were filed to begin construction on Publix, the other Madison Yards anchor.
VCC, the development’s General Contractor, is currently taking subcontractor bids through June 5 for the AMC Theatre.
Construction on the theatre should begin around August or September 2018, according to VCC.
Wakefield Beasley and Associates is the architect.
Once complete in spring 2019, Madison Yards will be home to 550 residences (a combination of apartments and townhomes), 80,000 square feet of loft office space, and 130,000 square feet of retail, anchored by Public and AMC Theatre.
AMC sure has the ventures going but will they break out of leading industry and the complacent tag given by many who see them as future death spiral
Finally, my preferred movie theater closer to home!
Why do we need a Publix when we have a Kroger a couple blocks around the street. Does this make sense? And are we concerned that a conservative corporation is moving into a fairly liberal community? This corporation also has had a salty past regarding gender and LGBTQ discrimination of its employees. They denied coverage of PrEP for its employees until earlier this year when Florida lawmakers put pressure on the corporation. They have a history of supporting policy in Florida that would legally protect them from environmental contamination complaints coming from adjacent properties. They also have a history of contributing to republican candidates (who opening support and defend the NRA) – so basically taking the money we give them and funding those who we may not be politically/morally aligned with.
lol ok steph.
Thanks for the heads-up about Publix, Steph. Can you provide some links to sources about these problems with the company. I won’t support any company that donates money to Trump and his friends. Providing links will let us spread the word.
Is there an early registration for those who want to work there?
Will open this weekend March 13th, still hiring!
