Fuqua’s Madison Yards development will soon break ground on Publix, one of the project’s anchor tenants.

Several permit applications this week were filed with the City of Atlanta to develop land where the grocery store will be situated, and to build its “shell” from the ground up.

An estimated $5,000,000 will be spent constructing the 55,655-square-foot building including electrical and plumbing work.

Permits to construct a Publix-dedicated parking deck will come next. Then we expect permits for the commercial buildout to be filed.

Fuqua since March has been filing permit applications for Madison Yards mostly for land development and parking.

The Publix application is the first tenant-specific permit to date.

Once complete in spring 2019, Madison Yards will be home to 550 residences (a combination of apartments and townhomes), 80,000 square feet of loft office space, and 160,000 square feet of retail, anchored by Public and AMC Theatre.

Fuqua did not immediately return What Now Atlanta’s request for comment.
