Contour Companies Holds Grand Opening of The Ivy at College Park

The Ivy at College Park Apartments – Phase One celebrated its grand opening recently. Attended by city leaders, development partners, and community stakeholders, this event marked a milestone for affordable housing in the city. It also marks the renewal of the notoriously distressed Chelsea Gardens property.

Contour Companies acquired the Chelsea Gardens property in March 2025. Contour Companies acquired the former Chelsea Gardens property in March 2025 and invested $6.5 million to redevelop Phase One into 132 modern, amenity-rich units.

Leasing for Phase One begins the first week of December, with families expected to move in before Christmas. The redevelopment of subsequent phases is already underway, with a target to complete them all by Summer 2026.

A Step Forward to Quality, Affordable Housing

The former Chelsea Gardens site had long symbolized the region’s affordable housing challenges. The Ivy at College Park now transforms the area into a safe, modern, and welcoming community. The 440-unit affordable housing redevelopment’s Phase One is complete with 132 renovated units.

While there is a long way to go to complete the project, Phase One is a reflection of the positive impact The Ivy has on the community. “The Ivy is a powerful reminder of what becomes possible when public and private partners move with unity, courage, and a shared vision for equitable, high-quality housing,” said Kwanza Hall, Develop Fulton Board Chairman.

“The Ivy’s revitalization is a significant step forward in strengthening both the character and the future of Ward 3,” said Tracie Arnold, College Park Councilwoman.

College Park Mayor Bianca Motley Broom, College Park Mayor Pro-Tem Jamelle McKenzie, and College Park City Councilman Joe Carn also attended the event. Clayton County Chairwoman Dr. Alieka Anderson Henry, CEO of Arbor Realty Trust, Inc., Ivan Kaufman, Aerotropolis Atlanta Alliance CEO Shannon James, and a host of regional stakeholders were also present at the opening.
