CircusTrix’s DEFY Extreme Air Sports by the end of 2020 will be anchoring the Northlake Village Shopping Center, a small shopping center that is undergoing heavy renovations near Northlake Shopping Mall.
The shopping center’s designated anchor space, at 42,650 square feet, was supposed to house a Sports Authority Sporting Goods before the company filed for bankruptcy in 2016 and shuttered all of its stores.
An Aspire Fitness Club was then slated to take up residence in the space by June 2019, but the lease fell through, according Savannah-based Garfunkel Development Corporation, which owns the property.
Now, a lease for DEFY has been signed, and an opening day set.
A typical DEFY Extreme Air Sports takes up roughly 60,000-square-feet of space with more than 60 trampolines, a Ninja Obstacle Course, Extreme Dodgeball and AirDunk, plus a Slackline, zipline, trapeze, aerial silks, and foam pits.
Construction for DEFY will ramp up starting in March through the summer, with a projected November 2020 opening, which will come as a relief to existing renovation-weary tenants like Bambinelli’s Italian restaurant and Kumon Learning Center.
There are currently two DEFY locations in Georgia, one in Savannah and the other in Augusta.
