MetroFresh has permanently closed its Midtown Promenade location after a February fire damaged the restaurant. The decision brings an end to its 21 years of serving the community.

MetroFresh Closes Midtown Promenade Location

MetroFresh has announced the permanent closure of its Midtown Promenade restaurant. It was a longtime neighborhood favorite, known for its welcoming atmosphere. The restaurant was known for seasonal ingredients and comfort food offerings.

Unfortunately, the restaurant had to closed after a fire caused significant damage on February 27. Owner and chef Mitchell Anderson initially wanted to reopen the restaurant after renovations. However, he later announced that the restaurant would permanently close.

In a message on the restaurant’s website, Anderson thanks the community for the years of support it has provided. He thanks the staff for the years they have spent together. He also shares that the Uptown location will continue serving customers and will deliver the same energy as the Midtown Promenade location.

According to a Rough Draft Atlanta, Anderson was able to continue supporting employees for six weeks through business interruption insurance. He also transferred some staff members to the MetroFresh Uptown location.

Reason Behind the Closure

Anderson shares his experience during this period through the message on the restaurant’s website. He shares that recovering the restaurant was unclear from the moment the fire broke out. He also said that he is no longer in a place where he wishes to start from scratch.

“Getting that news Saturday morning, February 28th, was a shock – for all of us,” reads the message. “The truth is that it was unclear even from that moment how we would be able to recover. Believe me, it has been an emotional rollercoaster. While the insurance has paid out everything they were supposed to, the actual cost of rebuilding and basically starting over makes it impossible. I may feel like a young man, but the reality is, at this point in my life, it just doesn’t make sense to start from scratch. I am ready for, and I think maybe I have earned, a quieter life with less responsibility.”
