College students in Carrollton might soon have another option for late-night bites, with a national cookie company known for delivery late into the a.m. coming to the city.

Insomnia Cookies has signed a lease for a 1,400-square-foot space at 120 Cunningham Drive near the University of West Georgia campus, The City Menus first reported. The late-night bakery could be open at the beginning of 2025.

Seth Berkowitz started Insomnia Cookies from his dorm room at the University of Pennsylvania in 2003.

The menu includes a variety of cookies, from the classic (like chocolate chunk, sugar and snickerdoodle) to the deluxe (think confetti, s’mores and chocolate peanut butter cup). They also offer brownies, ice cream, ice cream sandwiches and cookie cakes. The stores are known for late-night delivery, with some stores delivering until 3 a.m.

Insomnia Cookies expects 2024 to be the brand’s biggest year for new store openings, amid the recent opening of their 300th location. With help from a new partnership with Verlinvest and Mistral Equity Partners, the company plans to open more than 1,800 locations in the U.S. in the next decade, for now, all expected to be corporate-owned; Insomnia Cookies does not offer franchising.

There are currently eight Insomnia Cookie locations in Georgia. The first opened in Athens near the University of Georgia in August 2013, consistent with the brand’s affinity for opening near college campuses.
