When Louisiana native Jonie Paden moved to Georgia, she brought her legacy of Louisiana traditions with her. Now, she is looking to bring that legacy to life through Bayou Brew Coffee Co., which she plans to open in Powder Springs at 2830 Macedonia Rd, Suite C.
“Louisiana has shaped me and the tradition has shaped my family for generations. It has been important to me to build on that legacy here in Georgia,” Paden told What Now Atlanta. “The culture, the hospitality, the food, the family connection and that strong sense of community is something that I really wanted to have here in Powder Springs. That’s the brand’s story: building that connection here in the community but also having that legacy here that I’ve grown to love and for the community to share in.”
Paden’s goal is to bring a 1,400-square-foot piece of New Orleans to the development at the corner of Ernest W. Barrett Parkway and Macedonia Road. The space will feature signature New Orleans-inspired touches, including forest green and burgundy color schemes as well as a classic “hot beignets” sign.
“My vision for this space is that you are walking into New Orleans,” Paden said. “You are in the French Quarter. It is going to have that feel.”
The beverage menu will feature Louisiana-inspired chicory coffee, handcrafted coffee drinks, praline coffee and rich hot chocolate inspired by Cafe du Monde. Food items will include beignets, Boudin balls, croffles, Bayou chicken bites and snowcones.
Paden told What Now Atlanta that she is targeting an August opening for the concept. Once the shop opens, Paden also hopes to host community events at Bayou Brew Coffee Co. Eventually, Paden envisions expanding the concept to other areas of Georgia.
“I want this to be a staple in the community,” Paden said. “I want it to be a space where people can come to connect. I don’t want it to be a stop-by for coffee because this is more than just a coffee shop. We’re building something in the community and shaping experiences and bringing people together.”
