Farewell party to decide closing date
UPDATE (Jan. 7, 2010): Central City Tavern will not close as previously reported
No really. Employees at Central City Tavern don’t know when they’re closing because they haven’t worked out their party schedule.
An employee at the American style eatery at 1801 Howell Mill road confirmed the restaurants last day will be Jan. 1 or Jan. 2.
The exact date of closure depends on whether or not the restaurant has a farewell party.
Serving soups, sandwiches and now, pink slips, at this time it is still unknown as to what concept, if any, will take its place.
More details when they’re available.

I thought they were already closed. A friend worked here and got her “we are closing soon” walking papers a few weeks ago.
Ugh. When will these closures stop! Love this place.
this place lost a lot of its charm when it moved from its south buckhead location… sad to see it go, though!
This really sucks! CCT was a great addition to the area and my SO and I liked to stop there for a couple drinks or the occasional bite.
La Parilla next door does quite well so it probably isn’t an issue with the location. Isn’t Central City the second restaurant to fail in that same spot?
Sorry to see it go…I have been a long time customer and will greatly miss them 🙁
Skreet, yes, but the previous tenant was Kayson’s… crap, crap, crap. CCT was a definite upgrade. I’ll miss it a lot.
Acutally Kaysons wasn’t crap… the person running it was crap.
According to CL: http://clatl.com/omnivore/archives/2011/01/07/gravy-train-bbq-in-east-atlanta-pops-on-ice-a-brewery-in-decatur
CCT has been saved as the probably-going-to-be-crappy Italian restaurant fell through so CCT lives for another day.
thanks for the update, harry! here’s our update: http://wnatl.com/fcn4yY
