Chick-fil-A could soon build a new restaurant from the ground-up on the corner of Boulevard and Ponce.
David Kirk, an attorney with Troutman Sanders, the Atlanta-based chicken chain’s outside counsel, recently filed a rezoning application with the City seeking the necessary approvals to redevelop two parcels, at 689 Boulevard and 513 Ponce De Leon Avenue, “with a Chick-fil-A restaurant.”
Kirk specializes in land use and zoning law, among other areas.
A Texaco gas station and parking lot, owned by JODACO, Inc., currently sits at the site, adjacent to a Popeyes Louisiana Kitchen.
Joe Davis, the CEO of JODACO, was not reachable by What Now Atlanta (WNA) Wednesday for comment, nor was Lona Davis, the company’s vice president.
When reached over the telephone Wednesday, an employee at Texaco was unaware of any plans for a Chick-fil-A at the site, and their manager was off duty.
Neighborhood Planning Unit M is expected to hear from Chick-fil-A regarding the rezoning proposal on July 2, 2020
Chick-fil-A, which in late-2019 announced it would open 40,000-square-feet of offices in the nearby 725 Ponce mixed-use development, has long been looking at that stretch of Ponce de Leon for a new restaurant.
In 2016 rumors circulated that the chicken joint would be built where Dugan’s is situated.
Ghetto
Stop.
Is the Popeye’s restaurant going to remain on/adjacent to this site or will it be torn down for the new Chick-fil-A?
