The team behind Collins Family Foods & BBQ has a new concept in the works for Villa Rica. Fish & Chicken will open at 219 W. Wilson St., as first reported by The City Menus. Owner Joe Collins told What Now Atlanta that they are targeting an early November opening for the new restaurant.
Collins’s goal is to lean into a concept that is “something fun, but still simple.” The menu will feature fried chicken, fried fish, grilled chicken, grilled fish, hot wings with different sauces, burgers, hushpuppy waffles and cheddar biscuit waffles. Collins is bringing in a new chef, Deluka McCain Sr., to head up the restaurant.
The restaurant, which will seat 35 inside and offer some outdoor seating, will have a modern aesthetic blended with elements of nostalgia. There will be a record player, as well as a bar and an outdoor space with cornhole where people can gather.
“We’re working to really make downtown somewhere that people want to really come to and bring their families out,” Collins said.
Moving forward, Collins wants to continue to strengthen their restaurants in Villa Rica.
“We are trying to create jobs in the community, and just create a family dynamic that people could be proud to be in,” Collins said. “I’m trying to let the world know that Villa Rica is a place that you want to come to. That’s really the goal — for Villa Rica to be a place that people know about, and that they look forward to passing through.”
