Significant construction will soon be underway at the Edgewood Retail District to convert 1,724 square feet of retail space, at 1250 Caroline Street, to a Jersey Mike’s Subs restaurant, according to permits filed with the City of Atlanta.
The Jersey Mike’s will likely be replacing the now-shuttered Sole Shoes and Accessories, which is currently the center’s ‘sole’ vacancy, a representative from the Edgewood Retail District management office shared.
Project specs detail $457,500 worth of conversion including a grease trap install, full kitchen equipment, and a 34-seat dining area.
The Edgewood Retail District is anchored by Target, Lowe’s, and Bed, Bath and Beyond in addition to numerous retail and restaurants, two of them similar fast-casual sandwich slingers, Subway, and American Deli.
The Jersey Mike’s franchisees shared with What Now Atlanta on a phone call that they expect to be signing the lease next week.

Great, just what the town needs, another crappy sub shop. More shredded iceberg lettuce, please.

I’ll likely give it a try. But I’m not thrilled about this either! Firehouse Subs would have been superior competition to the Subway across the street.
