Craft gin and vodka distillery The Distillery of Modern Art will open its Chamblee doors in May 2021, a company spokesperson Thursday told What Now Atlanta in an email. The distillery, owned by Seth Watson, will eventually add American whiskeys and “distinctive” liqueurs to its lineup.
Partnered with What Now Atlanta Preferred Partner Vickers Design Group, The Distillery of Modern Art — announced in 2019 — is converting a 15,000 square-foot office and warehouse, at 2197 Irvindale Way, into a production area for the craft distillery, a retail and exhibition space with a tasting room and bar component, and a space for private events.
“At the Distillery of Modern Art, we are first and foremost a distillery of fine spirits,” Watson said in a prepared statement. “We are also a destination and experience that’s
shaped, in part, by our local community. That’s why we are tapping into our surrounding arts community to find established and emerging artists to feature their abstract expression of our spirits which will serve as an integral part of our bottles, our distillery, and ultimately, our brand.”
Touted as the “first and only” distillery in the Chamblee metro area, the building itself is meant to serve as a “piece of modern art” for patrons, the spokesperson said.
