El Mexicano is scheduled to close its doors for good May 20, 2018, following dinner service.

Owners Roxana and Octavio Aguirre Monday evening announced the news on the restaurant’s Facebook page.

“We are saddened to say we will have to close our doors this upcoming month,” according to the social media post.

“We have truly been blessed to know many of you through our time in El Mexicano. Many of our customers are like familia to us. These past four years have truly been amazing and we have all of you to thank.”

It’s unclear why the restaurant is closing, but the Aguirres “tried our hardest to stay at this location but unfortunately, we’re not able to make things work.”

The husband and wife team will focus on Patria Cocina, a new concept opening soon at The Beacon Atlanta.

“Coming to a new state with no immediate family, a big dream and hope of serving delicious food is all we had. We now have all of you to thank for making this crazy journey a reality…”
