everybody's pizza virginia highland closed ~ what now, atlanta?

Everybody’s closes. Nobody cares.

Everybody’s Pizza in Virginia Highland will close on December 5, according to sources at the restaurant.

Rumored to be closing for quite sometime, suspicion rose after stumbling across this posted message on the website’s homepage:

“After decades of service, our Everybody’s Virginia/Highland location closed the end of 2010. Click here for our Emory Village location.”

We called the Emory location and as we expected, the confused employees had to be informed that the original (per comment below) Virginia Highland location would soon be closing.

But let’s face it. Everybody knew it was only a matter of time before they closed.

Established in 1971, Everybody’s Pizza in Virginia Highland had the best pizza in town, according to some patrons and long time Atlanta residents.

With the addition of nationally acclaimed pizza joints like Antico-Pizza Napoletana, its no surprise Atlantan’s are taking their business elsewhere.

  • Yeah, I went to Emory in the late ’80’s and never thought much of Everybody’s…the pizza was pretty tasteless, with a pasty crust and no authentic (or interesting) flavor. I think the VA-High location opened in the early ’90’s, prob around 1994 or so. I remember how weird it was to see it in that neighborhood and seeing it turned into a yuppie watering hole, but it’s evidently popular with locals.

  • Not surprised I took my employees there for lunch last year and the GM was a total Jerk… No business acumen what so ever… The staff was apologizing for him. Apperently he has been there a while!

  • I’m glad the Emory Everybody’s is staying around for a while. I happen to like their pizza. Antico is impossible to beat on quality, but it’s a lot easier to stop in and enjoy a casual slice at Everybody’s.
