Gusto! is set to open its West Midtown Center restaurant on Tuesday, Jan. 15, according to a press release Monday.
The fast-casual eatery from Nate Hybl, at 530 17th St NW, is the fourth location for the company.
It’s “the only Atlanta-based restaurant brand featured at [Fuqua’s] Northside and 17th development,” the press release aptly points out.
Other restaurants in the mixed-use project include Chipotle, Zaxby’s, Blaze Pizza, and McAlister’s Deli.
“We’re excited to offer flavor + speed to the residents and businesses surrounding West Midtown Center,” Hybl said in the release.
During its grand opening a week from Tuesday, Gusto! will offer 10 complimentary entrée vouchers to each of its first 50 guests.
“The new store showcases a smaller footprint than existing Gusto! locations, allowing for a unique model that suits the nearby community of businesses, resident, and students,” according to the release.
Designed by Gensler, the West Midtown location is a 1,430-square-foot space with an open kitchen, countertop seating and the brand’s white and signature sunshine yellow color palette.
Gusto! West Midtown Center will be open from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. daily.
I love Gusto, but it looks like this smaller footprint location will only have a limited number of fixed backless stools to sit at. Unless I’m missing something, there will be no tables with regular seating as in the other Gusto location I’ve eaten at. This may be fine for some people in high school or college, but i think designing the spot this way will substantially deter many older people or families from eating there, especially since there are other options in this Fuqua center where people can sit down in comfort to eat their meal. It seems to be designed to be more of a take-out joint. i think designing it this way was a mistake, but we’ll see.
