Hattie B’s Hot Chicken is moving forward with plans to open its second Atlanta restaurant, this time in West Midtown.

Reps for the family-owned-and-operated Nashville-based eatery this week filed a permit application with the City of Atlanta to build out its new 4,860-square-foot Hattie B’s, at 1000 Howell Mill Road.

The new location was first announced in August 2019 nearly at the one-year anniversary of Hattie B’s entry into the Atlanta market with an outpost at 299 Moreland Ave. (opened July, 2018.)

“It’s a good spot in a bustling part of town,” Nick Bishop Jr., co-founder of Hattie B’s alongside his father Nick Bishop Sr., said in a press release at the time of the announcement last year.

“When we were looking for our first Atlanta location, we were looking in this area back then. It’s a part of town we’ve always had our eye on.”

The permit filing is the first major step toward Hattie B’s West Midtown becoming a physical reality since the announcement six months ago.

Construction is expected to ring in at $900,000, according to the official plans.

  • I am so sick of Howell Mill Rd. This time next year the only way to get down that street will be by bicycle. Atlanta royally messed up by not making these developers improve the road- should have been mandatory.
