The Graveyard Tavern could be closing its doors in East Atlanta Village (EAV), according to The Atlanta-Journal Constitution (AJC).

Employees at the longtime restaurant and bar, at 1245 Glenwood Ave. since 2005, told the AJC The Graveyard Tavern will close after service on Feb. 22.

Event space The Basement is staying put, however.

Owner Dustin Saboorian, who also now operates a Freshii franchise in Colony Square, would not confirm that The Graveyard Tavern is closing when reached Wednesday by What Now Atlanta (WNA.)

Saboorian sent the following via text:

“…Graveyard has been my whole life for the past 5+ years. I’ve invested everything in my business and the people that work there. I care for them as I do for my own family. As you clearly already know, I opened Freshii in November of 2019.  My focus has always been on investing in and growing Graveyard, the Basement, and Freshii’s concepts. I have no further comments at this time.”

When asked to comment on the closure allegations when reached over the telephone by WNA Wednesday, a manager for The Graveyard Tavern uttered “no comment, dude,” before hanging up the line.

Philippe Pellerin of Pellerin Real Estate, the developer of The Beacon Atlanta and redeveloper of several neighboring EAV commercial buildings, has reportedly acquired The Graveyard Tavern’s home.

Pellerin did not immediately respond to WNA’s requests for comment.
