J.R. Crickets Adds Lakewood Heights to Its Growing Location Roster

Chicken wing restaurant will likely open in May 2020.

Permitting is underway for the conversion of the former Urban Chic Barbershop to a J.R. Crickets chicken wing restaurant near the Lakewood Heights neighborhood of south Atlanta.

After five years in the end cap of a gas station-adjacent plaza, the barbershop relocated to 1907 Metropolitan Pkwy.

The conversion from barbershop to restaurant will include a bar and kitchen install and paint for the 850-square-foot space, according to plans submitted to the City of Atlanta.

Owner Paul Juliano, who is currently readying a new downtown location off Park Place, tells What Now Atlanta a May 2020 opening is likely.

Two other intown staples recently announced forthcoming outposts in close proximity to the future J.R Crickets.

Castleberry Hill’s Iwi Fresh and the West End’s Tassili’s Raw Reality will both call Lakewood Heights their second home, come mid-Spring 2020.
