Mochinut, the California-based mochi donut chain, plans a new location in downtown Atlanta

It will occupy a street-level space beneath Georgia State University’s Reflection apartment tower at 111 John Wesley Dobbs Avenue, according to an announcement.

The new location is from franchisee Boxete Group LLC, marking its third Atlanta store.

Ackerman Retail Vice President Daniel Yi completed the lease on behalf of Boxete Group. Dave Smith of Joel & Granot Real Estate LLC represented the landlord.

“Coming to Downtown Atlanta is an exciting milestone in this popular donut concept’s ongoing expansion,” Yi said in a press release. “This location at the busy intersection of John Wesley Dobbs Avenue and Courtland Street gives Mochinut the opportunity to serve GSU students, as well employees in the area and travelers staying in the many hotels nearby.”

Mochinut offers mochi donuts, a Japanese-American fusion donut made with rice flour. Some flavors include strawberry, yuzu, churro, matcha, mango and black sesame.

There are currently six locations of Mochinut open in Georgia, with several more in the works, according to the company’s website. That includes a spot at the Lee + White food hall in Atlanta’s West End neighborhood, as What Now Atlanta reported in July
