A massive new sporting goods destination is officially headed to Littleton.

SCHEELS has announced plans for a new flagship store at Mineral Place, with the more than 300,000-square-foot location expected to open in 2029. The announcement comes after Littleton City Council approved an economic incentive agreement for the project during its September 15 meeting.

The store will anchor the Mineral Place development alongside Costco, bringing SCHEELS’ large-scale retail and entertainment concept to the Denver South Metro for the first time.

Located at 700 W. Mineral Avenue, the Littleton store is expected to create more than 500 jobs and will become SCHEELS’ 38th location when it opens.

“We could not be more excited to expand our footprint across Colorado’s Front Range,” SCHEELS CEO Matt Hanson said in a statement. “We look forward to collaborating with local leadership, becoming a meaningful part of the Littleton community, creating hundreds of new career opportunities, and building a true destination to bring families together for years to come.”

The new store will offer much more than traditional sporting goods.

SCHEELS says the Littleton location will feature more than 80 specialty shops under one roof, with product experts offering services across categories including golf, baseball and softball, archery, cycling, skiing and snowboarding, and fly fishing.

The store is also expected to carry brands including Nike, Vuori, UNRL, Sitka, Yeti, Trek, Titleist and Varley.

For families, the location will include some of the features that have become part of the SCHEELS experience, including a 60-foot hubless Ferris wheel, rollerball bowling lanes, an interactive arcade, a 16,000-gallon saltwater aquarium, a large toy shop with LEGO offerings and a candy shop.

The Littleton location will also include several specialized service areas, including custom golf fitting, a baseball and softball fitting studio, an archery service shop, a full-service bike shop and ski and snowboard services.

SCHEELS says the fly-fishing and mountain waters department will also be tailored to Colorado anglers, with services including fly-line spooling, leader setups, rod repairs and local fly selections.

The project has been in the works as part of the broader redevelopment of Mineral Place, a large mixed-use project transforming the former Lumen Technologies property in south Littleton.

The city’s September 15 meeting included three resolutions tied to the development. Resolution 63-2026 approved the Economic Partnership Incentive Agreement between the City of Littleton, RIG Mineral LLC and SCHEELS All Sports Inc., while companion resolutions amended the existing agreement between the city and RIG Mineral.

The incentive agreement provides for a 30-year sales-tax-sharing arrangement tied to the SCHEELS project. Under the proposed structure considered by the city, Littleton retains 40% of the applicable sales tax, while 54.67% is rebated to SCHEELS and 5.33% goes to RIG Mineral LLC, with the developer’s share capped at $25 million.

SCHEELS’ announcement on September 16 confirms that the company is moving forward with the Littleton location, with construction and development leading toward the planned 2029 opening.

Once complete, the Littleton SCHEELS will join the company’s existing Colorado stores in Johnstown and Colorado Springs, giving the retailer a new presence in the Denver metropolitan area.

For Mineral Place, the arrival of SCHEELS adds another major anchor to a development that is already taking shape along the C-470 corridor, with Costco also planned for the site.
