A Guatemalan fast-casual chain known for its chicken is working on another location.

Construction documents indicate that Pollo Campero is planned for 630 Buford Drive in Lawrenceville. The restaurant, a corporate-owned location, would be about 2,600 square feet and include seating for 56 people. The site was formerly occupied by Hardee’s.

This would be the second Pollo Campero location in Lawrenceville, followed by an existing one at 946 Pleasant Hill Road. The restaurant can also be found in Brookhaven, Marietta and Norcross.

Pollo Campero began in Guatemala in 1971, expanding to the United States in 2002 with a location in Los Angeles. The menu includes fried and grilled chicken, sandwiches, salads and empanadas, along with sides like fries, rice, beans, coleslaw, mac and cheese, and sweet plantains.

Pollo Campero marked the opening of its 100th U.S. location (in Miami) earlier this year. The company has expressed a goal of opening 250 U.S. locations by 2026.
