A whiskey and cocktail bar from New Orleans appears to be expanding to Atlanta.

Barrel Proof is planned for Westside Provisions District at 1170 Howell Mill Road NW, according to a building permit application with the City of Atlanta. The scope of work includes interior renovation and limited demolition of the 3,167-square-foot space. The estimated cost of construction on the space is $312,250, according to the application.

Barrel Proof began in the Garden District in New Orleans, expanding out of state to Nashville in 2023. The bar features nearly 400 whiskies (“We stopped counting at 390,” says their website), plenty of beer options, cocktails, and some late-night eats. It is open from 4 p.m. to 1 a.m.

The concept comes from LeBlanc + Smith, an award-winning hospitality group founded by Robert LeBlanc. The group’s portfolio includes French Quarter restaurants Sylvain and The Will & The Way, Anna’s in the the Marigny neighborhood, Mahony’s Po-Boys in the Garden District, and boutique hotels The Chloe and The Celestine.

The groups aims to create “soulful, welcoming spaces where guests feel a genuine sense of connection and home,” according to the company website.
