Danny Chen plans to open up a second location of his Buckhead-based Nova Sushi and Asian Bistro, this time on the ground floor of the new Alexan on 8th residential tower in Midtown.
Nova is the final tenant to take up a piece of the 9,400 square feet of street-level retail and restaurant space that was available at the residential development.
Chen has a blank canvas and $380,000 in estimated construction costs to work with, according to an official filing with the City.
The work scope for the 4,596 square foot white box space calls for a full restaurant build-out with street access, while the exterior will remain untouched.
Nova Sushi’s fare will remain the same as the Buckhead Triangle Shopping Center flagship which first rolled out a full sushi bar menu in 2017, Chen shared with What Now Atlanta over the phone Tuesday.
In the Alexan, Nova will be neighbor to the now-open Rukus Cycling Studios which features guided, high-intensity cardio sessions.
QDOBA, the fast-casual Mexican eatery was the second confirmed tenant, but has yet to start construction, according to an Alexan leasing representative.
And while that same rep floated a late-spring, early-summer 2020 opening for Nova, Chen admitted that with permitting considerations, he’s not sure of the opening timeline.
“Maybe the end of this year, maybe early next year, I don’t know.”
