Atlanta-based Chef Richard Tang will open Press Start, an arcade bar and restaurant inspired by Tang’s childhood, in Summerhill, Developer Carter Thursday announced in a press release.
Featuring a variety of Asian small plates, craft cocktails, and retro video games, board games, and pub games, Press Start will join a growing mix of restaurants, bars and retail along Georgia Avenue.
Tang is the owner of Char Korean Bar & Grill at Inman Quarter and the forthcoming Asian seafood house Girl Diver at Madison Yards in Reynoldstown.
“Some of my favorite memories from growing up involve visiting the neighborhood arcade and playing games like Street Fighter II, Mortal Kombat and X-Men,” Tang said in the release.
“I’ve always wanted to create a place that brings people back to their childhoods, and as the vision for this restaurant has evolved, Press Start has become a passion project for me. The Carter team has been instrumental in helping bring my concept to life, and it’s exciting to debut this new restaurant next-door to great chefs and friends along Georgia Avenue.”
Once open, the restaurant will occupy a 3,069-square-foot space, at 63 Georgia Avenue, with an additional 1,492-square-foot rooftop patio with shuffleboard and various pub games.
The area downstairs will showcase a collection of arcade machines from the past alongside a mix of modern VR gaming consoles.
Press Start will be situated across from Halfway Crooks Beer, Little Tart Bakeshop and Big Softie.
In addition to Press Start, other restaurants set to open along Georgia Avenue include Little Bear, Concept, Redacted, Hot Dog Pete’s, Hero Doughnuts, and D Boca N Boca.
