America’s largest coffee chain is expanding to downtown Sugar Hill.

Starbucks is moving forward on a new location at 1170 Temple Drive, according to construction plans. It will be located at Solis Sugar Hill, a new apartment community with retail space.

The coffee shop will be almost 2,300 square feet, according to the documents. Renderings indicate plans for indoor seating, some of which will be on a second-floor mezzanine, and an outdoor patio. It does not look like the location will have a drive-thru.

The lease for Starbucks to join the Sugar Hill development was approved last fall.

“Starbucks approached us with a unique twist on their proven winning model that goes back to their early days as a local coffee shop,” city councilmember and member of the Downtown Development Authority Mason Roszel said at the time.

Starbucks first opened in 1971 in Seattle, Washington. The chain has more than 35,000 stores worldwide.

Construction bids for the new Sugar Hill store will be accepted until May 17, 2024.
