It is unclear why the Morningside restaurant closed temporarily over the weekend.
UPDATE (October 13): Ron Eyester Says Rosebud, Family Dog Staying Closed; Diner Staying Open
Update – October 8, 3:26pm: The Family Dog has yet to reopen, but an employee at nearby Rosebud, which is also owned by Ron Eyester, told What Now Atlanta (WNA) in a conversation at the site that The Family Dog still plans to reopen shortly despite the delay. No date has been set, and no additional signage has been posted since the initial reopening date of October 6.
The Family Dog, chef and owner Ron Eyester‘s Morningside pub, will reopen on Tuesday, October 6, according to signage posted outside the restaurant. The Family Dog temporarily shuttered Wednesday night and did not open for business over the weekend.
All this comes after Eyester released a touching letter last week outlining his struggles in the Morningside neighborhood. His pizza concept, Timone’s, closed for the second time in July.
Several employees of the pub told What Now Atlanta (WNA) last week the restaurant would be closing but did not specify the reasons behind the temporary shutter.
Representatives of The Family Dog have not responded to several attempts by WNA for comment, including visits to the space and sister restaurants.
More information as soon as it’s available. Developing…
Nope, still closed as of 6pm today.
The sign is gone and they are definitely closed. And it looks like for good.
Did Rosebud close yesterday? A friend ate there for brunch and was told that Sunday was the last day.
We’re looking into this now and will keep you posted as soon as we know something!
