Popular Midtown mainstay Woody’s CheeseSteaks this week will go from a standalone restaurant of more than four decades to a two-location operation with the opening of an outpost in Buckhead.

The new location, at 45 Irby Ave NW, will “soft open” October 2, 2019, Co-Owner Steven Renner in an email shared with What Now Atlanta Tuesday.

To celebrate the restaurant’s first (and second day), Woody’s CheeseSteaks will play host to “friends and family” on Wednesday and Thursday from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. where everything on the menu will be 50 percent off.

Unlike traditional friends and family days, Renner has opted to make the two-day event open to the public at the risk of “getting our asses handed to us” by an influx of customers.

Friends and family days are typically used as an opportunity for a new restaurant to smooth out its operations ahead of an official opening.

“We won’t turn anybody away for sure.”

Woody’s CheeseSteaks is still waiting on its liquor license at which point Renner and his team will host a full-blown grand opening celebration later this year.
