A new child care center is in the works in Forsyth County.
Kiddie Academy is planned for 4715 Northerly Drive in Cumming, according to construction documents. The one-story facility will be nearly 10,200 square feet, according to the plans.
Kiddie Academy is a nationwide child care franchise offering full- and part-time care, before- and after-school care, and summer camp programs. The facilities serve children at a variety of ages, between 6 weeks old to 12 years old.
Construction documents for the proposed Cumming location indicate plans for at least nine classrooms, with a capacity of 162 children and 14 teachers.
Founded in 1981, there are now more than 330 locations of Kiddie Academy across 39 states and the District of Columbia. There are currently 10 locations in Georgia, including an existing one in Cumming at 450 Brannon Road. That facility is about 12.5 miles from the proposed new one at Northerly Drive.
Kiddie Academy offers a signature Life Essentials curriculum, which focuses on six areas of development: Character, Confidence, Curiosity, Connection, Critical Thinking and Creative Expression.
