Shams Nanji, co-founder of Gas Express LLC—Circle K Atlanta franchising group, has filed a permit to construct a new Circle K convenience store and gas station in the Blair Villa neighborhood from the ground up. This would be the fourteenth Circle K in Atlanta and the fifty-second in Georgia.

According to the permit application, Circle K Atlanta plans to construct an 8,000 square-foot convenience store with retail and gas, “a service station if you will,” the permit states. Construction will take place at 3539 Jonesboro Road, a currently empty plot of land next to Mission Produce Inc.

Earlier this year in March, CStore Decisions reported that Gas Express had partnered with Champs Chicken. Under the partnership, by the end of 2021, over 60 locations would offer eats from Champs. However, the permit offered no indication that this location would include Champs Chicken and Nanji did not immediately respond to What Now Atlanta’s request for comment.

Nanji and co-founder Amin Chitalwala started their company as S&A Food and Gas in 1994. Over two and a half decades and a name change later, the company has 82 locations across Georgia, Louisiana, Alabama, and Arkansas, including a newish gas-less Circle K option downtown.
