Bakery will open in Old Fourth Ward by the end of 2015.
What would a Ponce City Market party be without a cake?
Rachael Hill, owner of custom cake company Rach Makes Cakes, will open her fist brick and mortar bakery at 620 Glen Iris Drive NE next to Ponce City Market in Old Fourth Ward.
“This location and fit is almost too good to be true,” Hill told What Now Atlanta (WNA) in a telephone conversation Wednesday.
“The area has transformed in the last few years with the help of Ponce City Market, and we can’t wait to be a part of that scene.”
Hill has been making cakes for every occasion since high school. After the demand for her baked goods grew over the years, she and her husband, Travis, built a commercial kitchen in their basement in 2012, and the then delivery-based Rach Makes Cakes was born.
“The deliveries took off and we were ready to grow, but that’s tough to do from your house,” Hill explained. “We started looking for the location of our first store and can’t wait to move in.”
Renovations on the 673-square-foot space will cost an estimated $6,000. Hill plans to be open for business by the end of 2015.
