Tap on Ponce, a proposed retail package store with malt beverage and wine sales, wants to enter uncharted territory as the first liquor store in Ponce City Market. The retail store would open in a 957 square foot unit across from West Elm and adjacent to the westernmost entrance facing Ponce De Leon Avenue.

According to an agent representing Tap On Ponce at an NPU meeting on January 25th, customers will be able to bring growler mugs to the establishment, where they will be filled with beer and sealed. There will be no alcohol consumption on the premises.

Tap on Ponce will feature retail space with a walk-in cooler, according to the commercial alteration permit filed with City of Atlanta. Plans include modifications to the storefront of suite N139 for the forthcoming package store. The walls, floor slabs, and structure are to remain, and the cost of construction will total to $104,000.

The Dogwood Restaurant Consultant Group (DRCG) is assisting in expediting the building permit process for Tap on Ponce. DRCG has also coordinated the creation of projects including Craft Izakaya, The Luminary and Umi Sushi. Walter Jordan, Operations Consultant, was not immediately available for comment.

Currently, the only other package store in the immediate area is local favorite Green’s Beverages.
