There is a new, locally-owned ceramics boutique opening up in West Midtown, right across the street from Top Golf.
Honeycomb Studio, a ceramics studio with a wide-ranging draw under Courtney Hamill’s creative force, has expanded to a brick-and-mortar, called The Clay Shop.
It will celebrate its Grand Opening on Saturday, December 14.
Part workshop, part boutique, The Clay Shop carries not only Honeycomb Studio’s own work, including custom-made tableware found in Atlanta’s restaurants like Bacchinala and St. Cecilia, but also the handmade ceramics of other artists, such as Michigan-based Debbie Carlos and local favorite Charlotte Smith Studio.
Saturday’s Grand Opening will include a shop stocked full of ceramics, studio tours of the workspace, and deep discounts on Honeycomb Studio second/ceramics — the ones with slight imperfections.
Hamill told Atlanta Magazine earlier this year that even though the studio’s products can be purchased online, there’s still something enchanting about entering a brick-and-mortar store.
“We’ve all had that experience of being drawn to something and then walking over to pick up a ceramic planter or a mug or something. It just feels so good in your hands.”
