Cain & Abel’s, the popular West Campus bar, is in the process of relocating, according to various local reportage. The bar, formerly located at the corner of 24th Street and Rio Grande Street., will be moving down two blocks, to 907 W. 24th Street.

Owner Ellis Winstanely has been planning the move for about a year after the site was sold, according to the Statesman’s reporting.

“I made my own assumptions based on the speed at which site plans move, which is usually a year to two years,” Winstanley said to the Statesman. “I guess when the tax man is going to get a whole bunch of extra taxes, they get a 300-foot tower built pretty quick.”

What Now Austin reached out to Mr. Winstanley to inquire about the move and potential opening dates, changes to the offering, aesthetic, and overall customer experience, but he was not immediately available for comment.

“Cain & Abel’s has been a part of Austin and UT’s West Campus since 1991,” the official website states. “Enjoy a plethora of beer on tap and a full bar while hanging out with friends at the hottest restaurant patio in West Campus. Cain and Abel’s serves American food with a Texas Drawl!”
