Cove Boutique, a well-established Austin boutique, will soon be opening a second location with a coffee shop, according to a recent filing with the State of Texas. The establishment will be located at 2151 S Lamar, occupying suites 100 and 200, near locally-owned eateries such as Patika and Loro.

Defining themselves on their official website, Cove states “Founded as a pop-up shop by Rebecca Barlin in 2015, Cove began as an alternative to the common boutique shopping experience. The store was an instant hit with Austin shoppers and travelers alike, and after opening our first brick-and-mortar in 2016 has grown into the lifestyle brand you see today. With the help of our longstanding and dedicated team we’ve curated a look and style that represents the vibrant city we love!”

What Now Austin recently reached out to Peter Barlin, Project Head, to inquire about the upcoming location and, specifically, its food and beverage component, but unfortunately Mr. Barlin was unwilling to provide comment.

What can be known, however, based on publicly available information is cause for intrigue. The filing states that construction will consist of “Renovate Existing Retail building and separate building into 2 units. Unit 1 – maintain retail use, renovate interior and increase building height from 17′-4″ to 23′-6″. Unit 2 – change of use to Restaurant, renovate interior and increase building height.” In total the project will cover 5,538 square feet of space and cost an estimated $1.5 million to complete. It is also notable that the filing estimates construction completion in March 2024.

Readers and partners curious about the upcoming coffee shop’s potential ambiance and aesthetic can visit the Cove’s original location at 1318 S Congress Ave.
