According to recent reporting in Eater, Austin hospitality group FBR will be taking over the former Crow Bar space in the Dawson neighborhood at 3116 South Congress Avenue.

Citing construction permitting for the address, Eater reports indicate the working name of “The Bar at South Congress” as of January 2024, and that the space will be designed by Studio Momentum Architects

The move comes after Crow Bar caught on fire in a series of arsons in September 2022, resulting in the building’s destruction. Despite owner Steve Gee’s subsequent efforts to rebuild and reopen his bar, the building’s damage was so extensive that demolition became the only option.

Unfamiliar readers might recognize FBR Management as the group behind notable Austin bars such as Mean Eyed Cat, Star Bar, and Dive.

No opening date has been announced.
