The quickly-growing fried chicken chain, Hattie B’s Chicken, is planning to open a new location at 2529 South Lamar in Austin, according to a recent filing with the State of Texas. The restaurant will be located in the popular South Lamar food district, near local eateries Taco Xpress and Matt’s El Rancho

What Now Austin recently reached out to Hattie B’s Chicken CFO Todd Williams to inquire about potential opening dates and building details, but he was not immediately available for comment.

Founded in Nashville, Tennessee, Hattie B’s Chicken has enjoyed growth into prominent Southern US markets such as Atlanta, Birmingham, Memphis, Dallas, and one location in Las Vegas. Hattie B’s offers a simple menu consisting of fried chicken, wings, tenders, and chicken sandwiches that can be ordered with sides such as greens, fries, mac & cheese, baked beans and coleslaw. On the beverage side of the menu, foodies can order iced tea and hand-squeezed lemonade.

Until Hattie B’s opens their doors to the South Austin public, area foodies curious about fried chicken in the area can try Gourdough’s Public House and Chi’Lantro, both of which are also on South Lamar.
