HEB, the popular statewide grocery store, will soon begin construction on a massive new development in Austin, according to a recent report by the Austin Business Journal. The store will be located at 715 S. Exposition Blvd, near Maudie’s Café and Snax by Pax, and feature at least three fully-fledged, in-house eateries.
According to the report, “the 97,000-square-foot location will be two stories with a large porch area. Similar to other new and recently renovated H-E-Bs, food will be served up from some of the company’s in-store restaurants: True Texas BBQ, South Flo Pizza and a coffee shop with breakfast tacos and specialty coffee.”
At True Texas BBQ, readers and partners can expect a no-frills menu of brisket, turkey legs, sausage, baked potato, mac and cheese, cornbread, ribs, potato salad, and other classic BBQ items.
On the official HEB website, South Flo Pizza is defined as serving “NY-style, made-to-order pizzas are made from the freshest ingredients that start with our artisan dough and finish off with our special herb/cheese blend. Our pizza is available in 3 ways: 16″ size perfect for 2-4 people, 8″ personal size, and the NEW crustless pizza- our 8″ without the crust! What better pairing for our pizza than a pint (or two) of our Texas craft beers on draft, a glass of wine, or a bottle of craft soda.”
While little is known about the third concept — the coffee shop with tacos — given the report’s specification about “specialty coffee”, readers and partners can reasonably expect a coffeehouse-style offering of both filter and espresso drinks.
The report adds, “Elsewhere in Austin, H-E-B is rebuilding its South Congress Avenue store near East Oltorf Street. The new location is supposed to be three levels and total 145,000 square feet, with a True Texas BBQ restaurant and indoor and outdoor seating for dining and live entertainment.”
