According to recent public records, a new bar and pizzeria is coming to town.

Moderna Bar & Pizzeria will soon come to 1717 W 6th Street, right in the heart of downtown Austin.

“To create a chef-driven restaurant and bar destination that brings traditional and unique Italian dishes serving genuine Neapolitan style pizza and small plates that will take your taste buds on an adventure with every bite and an atmosphere that will keep you coming back for more,” the official website states.

Leading the project will be Chef Leo Spizzirri (Master Pizzaoilo/Executive Chef), whom the official website describes as not “just a chef.”

“He’s obsessed with all things pizza. His expertise is in dough rheology and America’s ambassador of authentic Italian Pizza and Pasta products. Co-founder of North American Pizza & Culinary Academy.”

Titled as “Renowned Restaurauteur/Serial Entrepreneur”, the establishment will be co-led by Mike Pottorff who will bring “decades of recorded success in launching award-winning restaurant concepts.”

And last but not least, Chris Ruhling as “Bar & Restaurant Entreprenuer/Serial Entrepreneur.”

“With more than 40 years experience creating bars and nightclubs, Chris was responsible for the creation of Pete’s Dueling Piano Bar, Momo’s, Six Lounge, and Hangar Lounge, to name a few, which have all become institutions and part of Austin’s history.”
