“Discover the excitement of the world’s fastest-growing sport—Padel,” the website of Padel Society invites you. If you haven’t heard Padel Society yet, you will. It’s the upcoming indoor Padel venue that may just conquer the world of Austin racquet sports when it launches this summer at 6320 East Stassney Lane.

Centering six Padel courts, Padel Society is built around making the game accessible to Austin even in the heat by bringing Padel indoors. But its ambitions don’t stop there, co-founder Evan Meyers, who is opening Padel Society together with co-founders Andres Iturbide and Thanh Pham, told What Now on Friday. Featuring a pro shop, two locker rooms complete with saunas and showers, a co-working space, a physical therapy station, and a full-service bar in the center of the court space where you can watch your friends play, Padel Society wants to become the ultimate healthy-minded gathering place.

“We’ve been talking a lot about third spaces,” Meyers said. “What we want is to create an atmosphere where people can socialize, eat, drink, work—where you can spend an entire day.”

Still—this is a place made by Padel fans, by Padel fans.

“Andres and I started playing together, and we’ve been grinding on this really from the start,” said Meyers. “Thanh joined shortly after we got started. We met him in the Padel community, playing games and matches and tournaments. We all went from rivals to co-founders.”

There’s strong tech component to the concept, as well, involving AI camera analysis of gameplay that can help you improve your game. At the same time, you could also see Padel Society as a kind of antidote to some of the ugly side effects that come with the rapid pace of technological change.

“As the tech continues to grow, it’s so easy to get stuck behind the screen,” Meyers said. “We want to create a community that brings together people who are passionate with their hobbies. We want to get people outside the office and the workspace so they can do something they all love, together.”
