“The menu won’t be the same,” Thomajan explains. “There will be differences between the downtown and the Lamar location. We are trying to keep these details under wraps at the moment, but we definitely will have new offerings at the upcoming location.”

The popular downtown Chinese eatery Wu Chow looks to soon open a central Austin location, according to a recent report in Community Impact. The restaurant will be located at 3800 North Lamar Blvd, within suite 170, near Snooze and Santa Rita Cantina.

What Now Austin recently spoke to Stuart Thomajan, Founder and Chairman of Chameleon Companies, the hospitality industry in charge of Wu Chow, to get the latest on this exciting new development.

“We’re looking at expanding Wu Chow in 2023, but we have one more in the pipeline,” Mr. Thomajan says. “We’re going to make sure this one opens correctly and then we’ll pay attention to anything additional afterwards.”

Mr. Thomajan expresses that Chameleon is quite familiar with the area and is excited to be “part of the neighborhood vibe.”

“The menu won’t be the same,” Thomajan explains. “There will be differences between the downtown and the Lamar location. We are trying to keep these details under wraps at the moment, but we definitely will have new offerings at the upcoming location.”

When asked about the potential opening timeframe, Thomajan is optimistic it could happen before the summer, though one variable could push that goal further.

“We’re hoping for May, but that depends on hiring.”

Until the new Wu Chow opens its doors, readers can find the original location downtown, at 500 W 5th St.
