A kid-friendly hair salon franchise is bringing its experience to Dripping Springs. According to public filings, Sharkey’s Cuts for Kids plans to open at 13210 W. US 290, Suite E.

What Now Austin spoke with franchisee Laurie Luevano, who confirmed that the opening is targeted for November 2026.

Sharkey’s Cuts for Kids is a hair salon created to provide an engaging experience for children ages 0 to 14. The salon combines professional styling with an environment designed around what kids enjoy, featuring themed chairs, video games, and stylists trained to work with young children and tweens.

The salon will be operated by Laurie and her Andrew Luevano, who opened their first Sharkey’s in Kyle in November 2025 at Kohler’s Crossing.

According to Laurie, Dripping Springs was the area she had envisioned for her first Sharkey’s. “I wanted the first one to be in the Dripping Springs area because it’s the area that I live in,” she told What Now Austin.

After months of searching for the right spot, a process that began in October and ended with a lease signed on July 1, Luevano said the area stood out because of its large population of families with young children.

That local connection also played a role in her decision to franchise with Sharkey’s. Luevano said she noticed a need among families looking for a more child-focused alternative to traditional barbershops. “Talking to a lot of moms, they’re taking their kids to a barbershop, and I wanted to give them options and offer a kid-friendly experience,” she said.

Beyond haircuts, Sharkey’s Dripping Springs will offer sensory-certified stylists, a distinction that can be particularly helpful for families of children with sensory processing differences.

“In our Kyle location, we get a lot of kids with sensory issues that have never been able to get a haircut before,” Luevano told What Now Austin. “Being able to provide a service that allows a comfortable space for them is great.”

Luevano is also actively seeking partnerships with local schools, kid-friendly brands, and community organizations.

A third location in New Braunfels is planned for 2027. The grand opening campaign will include $7 off haircuts, with details to be announced through the salon’s social media channels.
