After making its Boston debut earlier this year, popular New York smashburger chain 7th Street Burger is already plotting its next moves, with two additional locations currently in the works for Greater Boston.
The chain is planning to open new fast-casual eateries at 880 Broadway (Route 1) in Saugus and 37 Brattle Street in Cambridge’s Harvard Square, reports Boston Restaurant Talk. Sarah Milner, marketing manager for 7th Street Burger, confirmed the expansion with What Now Boston.
The Saugus restaurant will feature 46 indoor seats, while the Harvard Square outpost will have 22 seats across indoor and outdoor spaces. Saugus is currently on track to open in October 2026, with the Harvard Square location expected to follow in the first half of 2027.
Founded by college friends Kevin Rezvani and Paras Jain, 7th Street Burger got its start in New York City’s East Village in 2021 as a tiny late-night burger counter. The concept has since grown to more than 30 locations across New York and the East Coast, building a following around its unfussy approach to one of America’s favorite foods.
7th Street Burger’s signature cheeseburgers are smashed on a flat-top until their edges are caramelized and crisp, then topped with melted American cheese, grilled onions, pickles, and house sauce before being tucked into soft potato buns.
Guests can choose from staples including the Classic Cheeseburger, Double Cheeseburger, and Spicy Jalapeño Cheeseburger, as well as vegetarian options made with Impossible Foods beef. The simple, no-frills menu also includes fries, Cajun fries, and loaded fries for anyone looking to add a little something extra to their meal.
“We’re excited to bring the Greater Boston area an affordable, fast-casual burger option that opens all-day into late night!” said Milner in a statement. In the meantime, local burger fans can get their 7th Street Burger fix at the chain’s existing outposts in South Boston and Boston’s Back Bay.
