A fast-casual Jamaican restaurant chain is bringing its signature flaky patties to Massachusetts for the first time.
Juici Patties plans its first Boston-area location at 16 Taber Street, Unit 1R in Roxbury. CEO Daniel Chin told What Now Boston that the 968-square-foot restaurant is expected to open “well before” mid-2027.
Founded in 1978 by Jukie Chin, who began making patties in his mother’s kitchen and selling them from his parents’ grocery store in Jamaica, Juici Patties has grown into the country’s largest fast-food chain. Today, the brand operates more than 60 locations, exports its products internationally, and is led by Jukie’s son, Daniel, who oversees the company’s expansion into the United States.
The restaurant is celebrated for its authentic Jamaican patties—golden, flaky pastries filled with expertly seasoned meats and vegetables, then baked fresh. Guests can choose from a variety of fillings, including mild beef, spicy beef, spicy curry chicken, and vegan options. The menu also features combo meals with coco bread and drinks, party packs for larger gatherings, and sides such as fried plantains, French fries, and banana chips.
The Roxbury location will be operated by Jamaican franchisees Patrice and Oliver Dunbar, who grew up eating Juici Patties and decided to pursue a franchise about a year ago, after realizing the beloved chain had no Massachusetts outposts. The couple chose Roxbury for its central location and strong Caribbean community, hoping to bring a taste of Jamaica to Greater Boston while also introducing first-time customers to the iconic brand.
“We’re most excited to see how people go crazy because everyone I know who goes back home to Jamaica usually brings [Juici Patties] back with them,” Patrice told What Now Boston. “Now we’ll have that option here. I don’t have to wait until I go home, buy a frozen version at the grocery store, or drive all the way to New York to get one.”
In addition to the upcoming Roxbury location, Juici Patties is also planning to open two additional Boston-area restaurants in Everett and Brockton in 2027. For the latest grand opening updates, be sure to follow the restaurant @juicipatties_us on Instagram.
