A Martha’s Vineyard Mexican restaurant may be expanding to Boston.

Shack Foods of Back Bay LLC has petitioned to change its DBA at 50 Dalton St in Boston’s Back Bay to El Barco, according to a licensing board hearing page (via Boston Restaurant Talk).

Currently, Summer Shack occupies this space, but both restaurants are concepts from Patrick Lyons of Lyons Group, indicating that El Barco could replace Summer Shack if approved.

El Barco, which opened on Martha’s Vineyard in 2024, is a casual Mexican eatery offering street tacos, burritos, and margaritas, while Summer Shack has long been a go-to for New England seafood staples.

Lyons Group representatives could not immediately be reached for comment. More details should emerge following the licensing hearing next week, so keep an eye out for updates.
