Last summer, it was reported that Popeyes Louisiana Kitchen was preparing for a major 15-unit expansion across Greater Boston, beginning in Brookline. Now, another location has entered the pipeline.

The beloved fried chicken franchise is planning a new restaurant at 470 Washington St in Brighton, reports Boston Restaurant Talk. A licensing board hearing page shows that the quick-service eatery will occupy roughly 1,727 square feet and include seven customer seats, a rear kitchen, and one restroom near the front of the space.

The expansion is being led by franchisee Rahman Hashimi, who previously told What Now Boston that he plans to open all 15 locations over the next few years. Hashimi is no stranger to the Popeyes brand, having previously operated 15 Popeyes restaurants in Connecticut, in addition to several locations in New York.

While the first announced outpost in Brookline was originally expected to debut by the end of 2025, that timeline appears to have shifted as the broader expansion moves forward. Exact opening timelines for the Brookline or Brighton locations have not yet been announced.

Founded in New Orleans in 1972, Popeyes has grown into a global fast-food powerhouse with more than 3,000 locations worldwide. The franchise currently operates ten restaurants throughout Massachusetts, including locations in Newton, Woburn, Roxbury, Roslindale, Everett, Revere, Leominster, Braintree, and Randolph.

Popeyes is best known for its spicy Louisiana-style fried chicken, particularly the wildly popular chicken sandwich. The menu also features wings, tenders, wraps, and classic Southern-style sides like Cajun fries, biscuits, and red beans and rice.
