A popular South Shore coffee shop is gearing up for an expansion.
Slow Coffee, a specialty café based in South Weymouth, is opening its second location at 106 North Street in Hingham, according to recently filed permits. The business teased the expansion on Instagram this week with a simple “Coming soon…” announcement.
Husband-and-wife duo Anson Gao and Bo Wang first opened the café in Weymouth’s Columbian Square in early 2023, and it has since become known for its thoughtfully crafted specialty coffee and laid-back philosophy. True to its name, Slow Coffee encourages guests to embrace a slower pace, taking time to savor each cup rather than rushing through it.
That same philosophy will carry over to the Hingham location, which will expand on the original grab-and-go concept, introducing both takeout and dine-in service in a newly renovated boutique café with seating for 20 guests.
Diners can expect an extensive beverage menu featuring sparkling espresso, cold brew, iced and hot drip coffee, berry soda, and creative specialty drinks like iced tiramisu, black sesame, and strawberry matcha lattes. Non-coffee options, including hot chocolate, loose-leaf tea, and hand-shaken iced tea, will also be available.
In addition to specialty coffee drinks, the new shop will serve breakfast sandwiches and a small selection of pastries, according to the Hingham Anchor.
“This is such a nice town, and when we heard that this space was available, we thought it was the perfect place to open another shop,” Wang told the Anchor. If all goes according to plan, Slow Coffee expects to welcome its first Hingham customers in late August or early September 2026.
