A familiar Boston coffee shop is eyeing a new home at 470 Atlantic Avenue, near the Seaport District.
Tradesman Coffee Shop & Lounge has applied for a Common Victualler License for a new location at Independence Wharf near Seaport Boulevard and the InterContinental Boston, reports Boston Restaurant Talk. A sign outside the building, shared on the Friends of Boston’s Hidden Restaurants Facebook page, offers a preview of what’s to come: “Tradesman Coffee Shop Atlantic Ave opening soon. We can’t wait to meet you!”
According to the City of Boston’s licensing hearing page, the proposed café would occupy approximately 480 square feet on the ground floor, operating as a lobby kiosk with a dedicated area for beverage preparation, service, and customer transactions. Proposed hours are 7 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Founded in early 2019, Tradesman has grown to six locations scattered throughout Boston, with two existing outposts on Federal Street in the downtown area, as well as in Charlestown’s Hood Park, at Boston Landing in Brighton, and on State Street.
In addition to its specialty coffee, Tradesman serves oversized, stuffed croissants, house-baked treats such as scones and cookies, and breakfast and lunch sandwiches. The cafés also offer craft beer, wine, and signature cocktails, while the Charlestown location features a full-service restaurant and bar with artisan pizza and additional lunch and dinner offerings.
The shops are known for their thoughtfully designed interiors, blending old-world, vintage charm with the feel of a sophisticated, contemporary lounge. Designed by acclaimed interior designer Stephen Martyak, each space serves as a cozy “third place” where professionals can work, unwind, or recharge between home and the office.
Owner Meki Durakovic briefly confirmed the planned expansion with What Now Boston, with his team indicating that additional details, including a projected opening timeline, would be shared at a later date. Stay tuned for updates.
