After 45 years in business, Salem landmark Pyramid Books has decided to pull the curtains down. The bookstore shared the news on social media, stating January 31 as the last day of operations. The store is also hosting a storewide sale with 40% off all items ahead of its closure.
Salem’s Pyramid Books to Shut Down
Pyramid Books, a beloved independent bookstore on Derby Street, is bidding farewell to the community. The independent bookstore is popularly known as a sacred place for spiritual and self-help books.
The store is one of Salem’s oldest occult and metaphysical retailers, and was a famous pit stop for locals and visitors for decades.
Through a Facebook post, the bookstore shared a heartbreaking note: “As we enter the new year, after nearly 45 remarkable years in business, we have made the difficult decision to close Pyramid Books.”
“Our final day of operation is Saturday, January 31,” added the team of the bookstore.
Upon the news of closure, the Salem community and fans of the Pyramid Books shared their disappointment and sadness on social media.
“Pyramid has always been my favorite ever since my first trip to Salem, and even more so when I moved to Salem. It’s been my number one resource and recommendation to anyone interested in learning more, including myself,“ one of the regular customers of the store said. “Salem is truly at a loss without it. Thank you so much, Kellie, for dedicating so much time, love, and energy to Pyramid. It will forever be missed.”
For the longest time, the store has been a staple place and offers a wide variety of new and used books. Additionally, the store sells crystals, tarot cards, spiritual jewelry, and other items. It also regularly hosted author events, book readings, and other workshops.
Store-Wide Sale Announced With 40% Off All Items
To celebrate the final chapter of the bookstore, Pyramid Books is hosting a sale on all items.
“In the interim, we will be hosting a store-wide sale with 40% off all items, with all sales being final,” shared the bookstore’s team.
Pyramid Books extended a token of gratitude and appreciation to the community and its loyal customers for their support over the years.
As Pyramid Books is preparing to close its doors, the team at the bookstore is planning to explore and expand online sales in the future. For nearly 45 years, the bookstore has been a cherished spot for the Salem community. While the physical storefront will soon close, Pyramid Books’ impact on Salem’s literary and spiritual community is expected to endure.
